LEGAL ADVOCACY PROGRAMMING

The Legal Advocacy Program is a key initiative of the Just Us Movement, focused on ensuring populations have access to the legal resources they need. Through this program, we offer free legal clinics, educational webinars, and advocacy for critical reforms in the legal system, particularly in the areas of civil rights and criminal justice. We are committed to addressing the legal challenges that disproportionately affect many communities across the nation. These communities often face systemic barriers to accessing justice, which exacerbates existing inequalities in housing, employment, and criminal justice. Our Legal Advocacy Program is designed to break down these barriers and empower individuals with the tools and support they need to protect their rights.

Justice

Justice begins with knowledge and access. Through our Legal Advocacy programs, we empower individuals and communities to understand their rights, navigate legal systems, and advocate for themselves. Our Know Your Rights campaigns and community workshops provide critical education on legal protections and resources, equipping participants with the tools they need to challenge injustices. In addition, our advocacy training sessions cultivate local leaders who can amplify the voices of their communities and drive systemic change. Whether addressing housing disparities, civil rights violations, or employment inequities, we aim to ensure that justice is not just an ideal but a lived reality for everyone.

KEY SERVICES

1

Free Legal Clinic

Our goal is to offer in person and virtual legal clinics to provide direct support to individuals facing legal challenges. Our clinics cover a wide range of legal issues include but not limited to: housing

disputes, employment law violations, civil rights violations, and criminal defense. Participants receive guidance from volunteer attorneys and law students, ensuring they are better equipped to navigate the legal system.

2

Know Your Rights Workshop

Education is key to empowerment. Our workshops educate participants on their legal rights in areas such as employment, policing, housing, and immigration. By understanding their rights, individuals are more prepared to advocate for themselves in situations where they may face discrimination or unjust treatment.

3

Legal Representation Referrals

For individuals requiring further legal representation, we offer referrals to attorneys and legal aid services, ensuring that those who cannot afford private representation still have access to quality legal counsel.
